President Trump Cancels Plans to Send Government Forces to Northern California
The US leader has scrapped arrangements for a dispatch of government forces to the Northern California that had triggered widespread condemnation from local authorities and brought protesters pouring onto the streets.
Regional Concern Over Possible Government Operation
The locale had been on edge after reports emerged that the administration was prepared to send more than 100 CBP and government personnel to the military facility in the East Bay, as part of a large-scale legal compliance operation.
Presidential Decision Following Discussions
However, the national leader declared he would not move forward with a “increase” of federal forces in the area after speaking with the local official, Daniel Lurie, and Silicon Valley leaders including Salesforce CEO and Jensen Huang.
“In that conversation, the chief executive informed me directly that he was canceling all arrangements for a federal deployment in the city,” the mayor stated in a release.
