Patriots Equal Best Winning Streak Since Tom Brady Era with Win Over Jets
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has tallied five TDs in the present year
The New England Patriots matched their longest winning run from the Brady period as they beat division opponents the New York Jets by 13 points in the NFL
Rookie Henderson shone brightly with three scores as the New England squad notched an eight-game winning streak for the first time since iconic QB Brady's closing campaign with the franchise in 2019
QB Maye accumulated 281 yards and a TD, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The triumph extends the New England's advantage at the top of the AFC East as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York at the foot after slipping to two victories and eight defeats
The visitors had taken the lead at their home field with quarterback Fields running in a five-yard TD to conclude the Jets' initial series
But the New England responded in the second quarter as Henderson ran in two seven-yard TDs before the running back hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third period to make it 21-7
"That was a crucial moment for him stepping up, and it's been fantastic for him to keep getting these reps," Maye commented on the rookie. "He aims to be outstanding."
Fields connected with Metchie late in the third quarter to reduce the lead for the Jets but Andy Borregales booted a two kicks in the final period as the Patriots wrapped up the win
